Microsoft Plans To Abandon Old Versions Of Internet Explorer – Yahoo Small Business Advisor

Those designers got a little help from Microsoft last week when they announced a deadline for support of any version of IE before the current IE 11. After January 12, 2016, only the most recent version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates, Roger Capriotti, Director of Internet Explorer, wrote on Microsofts IEBlog. The company touts benefits for users staying up-to-date with the latest software, but moving away from old versions of Internet Explorer has some giant implications for designers. Heres how Capriotti describes it: Older browsers may not support modern Web standards, so browser fragmentation is a problem for Web site developers. Yeah, thats a bit of an understatement.
